In a world of many languages, translation builds bridges across the boundaries of language and culture.
Translation: Crossing Borders, Crossing Cultures was a 2009-2010 lecture series sponsored and hosted by the Horning Endowment at Oregon State University and conceived by Horning Endowed Chair, David Luft. The series brought experienced translators and theorists who emphasized the role of language in our lives and the way translation brings other cultures to us.
The purpose of this site is to document the series and provide access to these lectures for a broader public. Each lecture was filmed and video recordings are available streaming from this site. MP3 audio podcasts of the lectures are also available for download.
In addition to the lectures themselves this site also provides additional information on translation and links to more resources on the web.
